Working with landscape, the overgrown garden, wild juniper, the rusting farm equipment next door,- t's all a paradise of art material. It's a crossover of Brothers Grimm, oracular vision and mapping. I'm making wall books- mixed media pieces on pjywood with a wedge cut on one edge- inspired by the 'book'. I was given a set of 1911 Encyclopedia Britainicas and a century of reflection as we close out 2011. Amazing how empires rise and fall, especially evident in reviewing the foldout maps. The landscape is a constant reminder of cycles. One of the highlights this year was harvesting Japanese indigo at El Rancho de las Golondrinas- a ranch and living history museum just down the road. We successfully dyed paper and fabric, corn husks, sticks, leather gloves- more will be showing up on this site.  Stay tuned.
